Third book in the series: Nela’s Travels. The little traveler goes to Vietnam where she meets gibbons and discovers life in a tropical jungle. Then she goes to Ethiopia where in the Omo River valley she meets the Mursi people. She gets to know their habits and the specific way of decorating their mouths with discs. In Madagascar, she takes a walk on the seabed, getting to know the marine fauna and the rules of diving. She moves to Costa Rica where she meets toucans in the tropical jungle. She looks for small turtles at the seaside and learns how turtles reproduce. She shows the ecological issues connected with the protection of this species. She participates in the Bolivian carnival on “Witches Street” and describes the event. In Peru, she visits sea lions and other animals that live in the waters of the Pacific Ocean. In Thailand, she visits the local school and meets the children studying there. Once again in Costa Rica, she tastes a drink made of cocoa beans and learns the secrets of making this specialty. The book shows issues in geography, biology, ecology and cultural diversity through the prism of seeing a little girl visiting different corners of our planet. Nela meets people and learns about their lifestyle, food, how they dress, what they consider beautiful, etc. Meeting various animals in their natural habitats she also introduces issues of ecology needed to protect the planet.
