“A as in whale” is not the typical ABC picture book. It presents children with the challenge to find the intruder in a series of pictures supposed to start with the letter in question. This book is to be read from beginning to end, from A to Z. But it is also to be read from end to beginning, from Z to A: everytime the reader revisits a page already read, the words corresponding to each letter are different, allowing children to practice reading different lists of words, and work on their memory: instead of looking for the intruder, they can now look for the newcomer!
